Hello, I am Dr Gill Aspin, a Clinical Psychologist, HCPC & BPS registered, and accredited Schema Therapist. I work with people with a wide range of personal and interpersonal problems and would like to help you to live the life you want, and not be constrained by psychological difficulties. I use a number of therapies, including Schema Therapy and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, that focus on unhelpful patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving. These patterns are completely understandable and amenable to change. I believe that small changes can make a big difference and that big changes really are possible with our hard work and dedication. Collaborating with clients to help them towards their goals is important to me. I understand that change can be a difficult process and will support you through this in an environment of openness, optimism and care.
I can help with problems such as:
- Panic attacks
- The effects of childhood experiences such as a abuse (sexual, emotional or physical) or neglect
- Issues that may be referred to as "Personality disorder"
- Relationship difficulties, present or past
- Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
- Feeling empty or that there is something missing
- Low self esteem
- Feeling repeatedly taken advantage of or victimsed as an adult
- Trust issues
- Sport related mental health concerns
There are many other issues that people may struggle with and I believe that most problems, no matter how complicated they may seem, can be understood and worked on within a trusting and collaborative therapeutic relationship. Therapy can feel like a very big step so if you are not sure or have any questions drop me an email, text or phone me.
I have full confidence and trust in Gill and she has helped my very much. She has allowed me to have a better understanding of myself and of my symptoms.
Gill is so patient and understanding. She listens and has helped me a lot. She is one in a million.
I can say nothing but positive things about my experience and although I am on an incredibly long journey, Gill’s support has been vital.
